With over a decade of hits in the South Pacific, legendary New Zealand reggae band, Katchafire, has released their greatest hits album, “Best So Far” (VP Records). The record features their most popular songs from the early 2000s to the present. Katchafire’s signature roots, culture and lover’s rock sound has influenced many of today’s popular Hawaiian and Californian reggae bands, including Common Kings, The Green and The Hot Rain Band.
Katchafire’s seven-piece ensemble started out as a Bob Marley tribute band and evolved into a solid songwriting sensation. As one of the most popular and recognized bands in the South Pacific, they shared the stage with international artists including The Wailers, Maxi Priest and UB40. During their career, many of their hits, including, “Get Away”, “Who You With” and “Giddy Up” all reached spots on the New Zealand Top 40 Singles Chart (all of which appear on the album). “Best So Far” also features the band’s beloved tracks including “Frisk Me Down”, “Irie”, “Working”, “Say What You’re Thinking”, “Sweet As” and “Groove Again”.
